Dry shampoos seem to be all the rage now, and I have tried a few off the shelf products, but have found that they often leave my hair looking way greyer than it already is, and I work so hard to keep the greys covered up, the last thing I want is to look like I have more!
I just recently came across a pin for a DIY dry shampoo - it provides instructions for both light and dark hair, but since I have brown hair, I obviously tested the dark hair version.
This pin intrigued me because I have never seen dry shampoo for different hair colors - more of a one fits all product. The ingredients were all items already in my baking cabinet, so I whipped up a batch in a few minutes and tested it in between shampoos. The cornstarch, in theory, should soak up any oil, and the cocoa, from what I can tell, is only used to prevent the white look on dark hair. Plus making your hair smell like you washed it in melted chocolate!
I was so excited for this to work. And you know what? It did. It freshened up my day 2 hair, and totally covered up my outgrowth (along with the greys). It lasted all day and well into the next morning when I got around to washing my hair. It did such a bang-up job, I will definitely be using this more often.
